Within the framework of an extraordinary competition for grants from the funds of the EFSD for the purpose of combating and responding to the consequences of COVID-19 for the financing of social projects, the EFSD Council approved the financing of the project "Emergency response to effects of COVID-19" in the Kyrgyz Republic (hereinafter referred to as the Project) in the amount of 3 million US dollars by a decision №76 dated March 18, 2022.

The aim of the Project is to increase the level of provision of the necessary medical technical means of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The project involves the provision of specialized vehicles to state healthcare system institutions in order to provide timely medical assistance, to transport patients, to improve accessibility of the medical services for people living in rural and remote areas of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The project provides for the allocation of US $3 million for procurement of ambulances and medical transport in order to transfer them to Centres for Disease Control and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance and Family medicine Centres.
