Five mobile sanitary and epidemiological laboratories were handled over to the Republic of Tajikistan in the framework of the implementation of the project "Mobile diagnostics of COVID-19."

April 10, 2023. Official ceremony of handing over five mobile sanitary and epidemiological laboratories (MSEL) took place at the Istiklol Medical Complex in Dushanbe. This event was conducted within "Mobile Diagnostics of COVID-19" project. Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Republic of Tajikistan - Abduholik Amirzod.

This project is implemented under the agreement on the provision of a grant from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development, signed on October 8, 2021 and ratified by the Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan on December 15, 2021.

The goal of the project is to increase the level of provision of the necessary medical equipment at health care institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan. It will contribute to increas in the detection of COVID-19 infection cases as well as other infectious diseases, among different population groups, including medical staff, most at risk of infection, both in cities and remote areas of the country.

Under this project, sanitary and epidemiological laboratories with a level of biological safety of BSL-3, as well as test systems for diagnosis of COVID-19 were purchased and delivered to the Republic of Tajikistan.

Mobile sanitary and epidemiological laboratories help diagnose and promptly monitor infectious diseases and their pathogens, detect the circulation of pathogens in the environment and conduct sanitary and epidemiological research. MSEL differs from peers by an isolated medical reception compartment in the vehicle, where sampling of biomaterial can be carried out. The design of a vehicle with a level of biological safety BSL-3 with a supply and exhaust ventilation system and with N-14 filters, an automatic disinfection system ensures safe work with microorganisms of I-IV pathogenicity groups.

MSEL also includes reagent kits for the immunochromatographic detection of antibodies to the COVID-19 in the blood serum of patients.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan took part in the implementation of the project, functions of the project implementation group were assigned to the Russian fund “AIDS Infoshare”.
