EFSD reaffirms commitment to supporting climate resilience across the region at Astana summit
The Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) has participated in the Regional Ecological Summit 2026 (RES-2026), themed "A Shared Vision for a Sustainable Future."
As part of the summit's business agenda, EFSD Managing Director Iaroslav Mandron took part in a plenary session alongside the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Georgia, and Mongolia, as well as the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan. The high-level format of the event underscores the growing importance of the climate agenda for the region's long-term financial stability.
Commenting on the outcomes of the summit, EFSD Managing Director Iaroslav Mandron stated: "The Regional Ecological Summit in Astana is an important platform for building coordinated approaches to climate policy and sustainable development, with a focus on regional priorities. For our part, the EFSD will support sustainable development across the region in line with our mandate."
A key practical outcome of the summit for the Fund was the expansion of its partnership network. On the sidelines of RES-2026, the EFSD and WHO Regional Office for Europe signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The document is aimed at advancing cooperation in strengthening healthcare systems and improving the population’s well-being in EFSD member states.
The EFSD also participated in expert sessions alongside Kazakhstan's Ministry of Healthcare and UN agencies, including the WHO and UNICEF, and explored mechanisms for climate finance. The Fund’s participation in the summit underscores its commitment to supporting projects that enhance the resilience of EFSD member states’ economies to global challenges.
