EFSD Participates in Annual Meeting of Asian Development Bank in Samarkand
Samarkand, May 8, 2026 — A delegation from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) joined the 59th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), held May 3–6, 2026, in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan.
As part of the official business program, EFSD officials participated in sector sessions and thematic events covering regional connectivity, transport and digital infrastructure development, food security, and expanded cross-border cooperation across Asia and the Pacific.
During the meeting, ADB announced the launch of a $70 billion program aimed at advancing the region's energy and digital infrastructure through 2035. The program encompasses the Pan-Asia Power Grid Initiative and the Asia-Pacific Digital Highway — two flagship initiatives designed to develop cross-border energy and digital networks, expand cross-border electricity trade, and strengthen digital connectivity across the region.
EFSD and ADB are currently co-financing two projects: the rehabilitation of the Toktogul Hydropower Plant in the Kyrgyz Republic and the construction of a highway in Armenia as part of the North–South Corridor.
