EFSD held workshops on the implementation of environmental and social safeguards for EFSD projects in the Republic of Armenia

31.10.2022. On October 27-28, the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development held workshops on the implementation of environmental and social safeguards in Yerevan (Republic of Armenia) for implementing agencies and project implementation teams.

The workshops have been attended by representatives of Armenian Territorial Development Fund branch for the implementation of water sector programs and the Fund “Road Department” of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia, as well as contractors and technical supervision consultants.

EFSD assisted new employees of implementing agencies, contractors and construction supervision consultants in discussing the approaches, requirements and recommendations for environment and social risks management and improving monitoring, as well as reporting within the Irrigation Systems Modernization Project and Construction of North-South Road Corridor (Phase IV) Project that are financed from the EFSD resources.

At the meeting, the participants learned about the EFSD activities in the country, approaches to implementation of environmental and social safeguards. Participants discussed general schemes for internal and external implementation monitoring of environmental management plans, as well as monitoring of environmental and social aspects of the projects, including preparation of monitoring checklists, preparation of final environmental audit reports and resettlement and land acquisition plans, non-compliance notices and corrective action plans, etc.
