EFSD continues to provide training in the Republic of Armenia on managing the environmental and social impacts of projects

The Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) has organized a specialized practical training sessions on Environmental Management and Audit in Infrastructure Projects. The two-day event was held in Yerevan from July 30 to July 31, 2026.

The main purpose of the training session was introducing approaches and requirements of international best practices for environmental and social safeguards to both ongoing and future infrastructure projects in such sectors as transport, energy, water management and the social sphere. The event brought together national environmental and social specialists from EFSD-funded Project Implementation Units (PIUs), as well as national experts from PIUs involved in projects of other international financial institutions (IFIs). Staff of consulting companies working in construction and technical supervision, contractors, as well as line ministries and departments, also took part in the training.

The training program was designed to address direct requests from government agencies of the three member countries of the Fund. The program paid special attention to the following critically important topics:

• Monitoring of environmental parameters

• Management of asbestos-containing materials within the framework of infrastructure projects

• Safe handling of pesticides and other toxic substances on construction sites.

The training was conducted by the team of leading international consulting practitioners in the field of environmental protection, health and safety, hired by the EFSD. The format of the training was interactive with focus on obtaining both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The program included an analysis of real-life cases from the current EFSD project portfolio, group assignments, and direct discussions with trainers.

The participants noted that the training sessions are aimed at increasing the potential of specialists, are very timely and will contribute to improving the environmental and social effectiveness and performance of projects covering various topics across countries Also the will help to improving the presentation of environmental and social monitoring reports by executive and implementing agencies.

Upon successful completion of the training, the participants received personalized certificates.
