EFSD and Government of Kyrgyzstan Sign Two Loan Agreements
The Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD, the Fund) and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic have signed loan agreements for two strategic investment projects financed by the EFSD: "Improving Water Supply and Sanitation in Rural Settlements of Osh Region" and "Construction of the Surface Spillway at the Kambarata-2 Hydropower Plant." The agreements were signed by EFSD Managing Director Iaroslav Mandron and Minister of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Suinaliev.
"The signing of these agreements reflects our shared commitment to implementing projects of high social and economic significance for the Kyrgyz Republic. Investments in water supply and energy infrastructure will help improve the quality of life of the country's population," said EFSD Managing Director Iaroslav Mandron.
During a working visit to the Kyrgyz Republic, the EFSD delegation, led by Managing Director Iaroslav Mandron, held a series of meetings with with senior government officials.
Meetings were held with Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Head of the Presidential Administration, and with Daniyar Amangeldiev, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as with Minister of Finance Ruslan Suinaliev, Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov, Minister of Architecture, Construction, Housing and Communal Service Nurdan Oruntaev, and Minister of Education Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva.
"It should be noted that there has been constructive cooperation on the Bishkek-Osh road reconstruction project, with more than 67 kilometers of road reconstructed. I would also like to thank the Fund for its support of the country's energy sector, in particular through the projects to rehabilitate the Toktogul Hydropower Plant, which increased capacity by 240 megawatts (MW), and to commission the second hydropower unit of the Kambarata Hydropower Plant-2, which will increase capacity by 120 MW," said Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Head of the Presidential Administration.
During the meetings, the parties discussed the progress of EFSD project implementation in the Kyrgyz Republic, prospects for cooperation in the energy, construction, and infrastructure development sectors, and further expansion of engagement to support the country's socioeconomic development.
