The share of the US dollar in the structure of Russian export earnings in 2014-2020 dropped from almost 80% to 56%, while that of the ruble had grown from 10% to almost 15%, which, according to Evgeny Vinokurov, Chief Economist of the Eurasian Development Bank and the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development, is a big deal. In payments for imports, the rating of the US dollar also shifted toward the ruble and other currencies, especially the yuan, says the expert. According to Evgeny Vinokurov, the share of the ruble in trading with India is also quite significant; for example, in export earnings for 2020 it was about 58%, and in export sales to China the said share reached 11% (compared to 1.4% in 2014).
