Budget of programs to be supported by the EDB in 2022 will be equal to about us $ 31.8 million: minister of finance

In 2022, in cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union, including with the financial organizations of the EAEU, including the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development and the Eurasian Development Bank, the draft national budget envisages the implementation of 3 programs with 6 activities (events). This statement was made by the Armenian Minister of Finance Tigran Khachatryan on 4 November at the joint meeting of the permanent parliamentary commissions dealing with the 2022 draft national budget. Overall, for the implementation of these programs in 2022 the draft national budget allocates AMD 15,720 million (about US$ 31.8 million, given that US$ 1 equals AMD 493.6). Included in this amount are AMD 15,594 million, as borrowed money, and AMD 126 million, as the grant funds. In 2021, funds were allocated for these purposes in the amount of AMD 6,691 million. “Thus, the funding volume increased by 135%,” was the Minister’s comment. As clarified by the Minister of Finance, the programs supported by the EFSD, are largely focused on infrastructure projects, in particular on the improvement of irrigation systems and road networks. Khachatryan recalled that the EDB provides financial support to the construction of the southern segment of the North-South Transport Corridor. Furthermore, the Bank supports the grant program of upgrading the health care system.
