The EFSD meets with the Minister of Transport, Architecture, Construction and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic

Bishkek, 1 June 2021. On 28 May 2021, Gulmira Abdralieva, Minister of Transport, Architecture, Construction and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic, met with representatives of the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) managed by the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB).

The sides discussed the implementation of the project to reconstruct the Bishkek–Osh road (Phase IV; Madaniyat–Jalal-Abad). They reconfirmed their readiness to proceed further with the project and to expand cooperation in the transport sector. In particular, they discussed the implementation of the Aral-Suusamyr road reconstruction project.

From 23 to 26 May 2021, an EFSD mission visited the Madaniyat–Jalal-Abad section of the road. The team noted that the contractor had intensified its work compared to 2020.

The Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) amounting to US$8.513 billion was formed on 9 June 2009 by the governments of the same six countries. The objectives of the EFSD are to assist its member countries in overcoming the consequences of the global financial crisis, ensure their economic and financial stability, and foster integration in the region. The EFSD member countries signed the Fund Management Agreement with Eurasian Development Bank giving it the role of the EFSD Resources Manager.
