21 August 2023

21.08.2023. Head of socioeconomic analysis and IFI of the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development Mr Artem Levenkov participated as a moderator in session « Bridging Digital Divide and Boosting Digital Skills» of The Seventh CAREC Think Tank Development Forum under the theme of “Embracing Digital Technology for Sustainable Economic Development”. Among the speakers were representatives from Islamic development bank, agency UN Women, and academia. Participants discussed ways to address the digital divide and develop digital skills, and noted that while technological adoption has increased productivity and efficiency, it has also widened the already wide ranging digital divide among countries, regions, gender, income, and age groups, putting additional pressure on governments to design programs for bridging the digital gap, reskilling, and upskilling the workforce.

The CAREC Institute’s annual think tank forum serves as a platform for discussing important regional issues and strengthening cooperation between governments, think tanks and the private sector. The Forum promotes economic cooperation in Central Asia and along the Silk Road through knowledge formation and exchange. The Forum consisted of eight thematic sessions with discussions of various aspects of the development of the digital economy.

The EFSD, an active participant in the activities of the CAREC program, formalized cooperation with the CAREC Institute in 2023.

The CAREC Institute promotes regional cooperation and integration through knowledge generation, capacity building and knowledge sharing in the CAREC region as the knowledge arm of the CAREC Program. The CAREC Program is a committed partnership of 11 countries – Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, People’s Republic of China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
