EFSD held workshop on the implementation of the Environmental and Social Safeguards in Yerevan, Republic of Armenia
12.09.2023. On September 7, in Yerevan (Republic of Armenia), the Eurasian Fund for Development and Development (EFSD) held an information workshop for the implementation agencies and project implementation units on the realization of the Environmental and Social Safeguards and their considerations in Procurement procedures and documents.
Mr. Armen Poghosyan, Director of the Investment Loans Project Group and Ms. Olga Sosnina, Head of the Strategic Planning, Policies and Standards Department of the EFSD, welcomed the workshop participants. The workshop was attended by representatives of the “Agency for Health Programs Implementation” State Institution of the RA Ministry of Health, the Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund of the Republic of Armenia, as well as contractors and technical supervision consultants for the “Increasing the level of assistance in the COVID-19 pandemic in the Republic of Armenia: detecting and responding to diseases caused by coronavirus” and “Energy efficient regions: using mechanisms of increasing energy savings in public buildings and promoting development of the green energy” (Republic of Armenia) projects financed by EFSD funds.
The workshop participants were also acquainted with EFSD portfolio projects in the Republic of Armenia.
EFSD specialists presented the main approaches, requirements and recommendations for effective environment protection management, social risks, monitoring reporting and incorporation of environmental and social requirements in procurement and contract documentation in an interactive manner.
EFSD specialists also presented to the participants general outlines of internal and external monitoring of environmental/social management plans, examples of filling in monitoring checklists, preparation of final reports on environmental audits and grievance redress mechanism, a non-compliance notices and corrective actions.
