EFSD Managing Director Delivers a Speech at 21st CAREC Ministerial Meeting

25.11.2022. EFSD Managing Director Andrey Shirokov delivers a speech at the 21st Ministerial Meeting of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program chaired by the PRC. At the meeting, participants discussed the outcomes of the Forum's activities in 2022, including the results of regional cooperation within the framework of sustainable, inclusive and green economic recovery after the pandemic.

Andrey Shirokov noted that the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development supports the CAREC Program with concrete project activities in a wide range of areas, including energy, transport, water sector, health care, and economic and financial stability. On the infrastructure agenda, the Fund shares the CAREC focus on development of transport corridors, water, and energy infrastructure. These sectors are prioritized in the EFSD strategy for infrastructure financing. In the context of the CAREC economic and financial stability agenda, the EFSD Executive Director highlighted fiscal policy and debt sustainability challenges. In this regard, the EFSD conducts macroeconomic monitoring for its recipient countries and is ready to provide support aimed at improving conditions for sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth.
